Board your train to La Spezia. This town is the perfect base from which to explore the region. The town itself features winding cobblestoned streets with charming trattorias featuring the finest regional cuisine. (Overnight in La Spezia) B

Use your Cinque Terre Card to discover the stunning hillside towns situated along the rugged coastline of the Cinque Terre by train. The picturesque villages – Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, and Manarola – each offer their own unique, sun-kissed version of authentic Italian seaside bliss. Start with the 20-minute train ride from La Spezia to Monterosso, the westernmost village known for its lemons, anchovies and a beautiful little stretch of beach. After exploring the town, take the three-minute train ride to Vernazza, the steepest of the villages, and stroll along Via Roma, peeking into the little cafes that line the street. From Vernazza, travel to Manarola for a sunset dinner and unforgettable views. After dinner, take the short train ride back to La Spezia and relax at your hotel after a memorable day. Board Trenitalia to Sestri Levante. This lovely little Riviera town extends around two bays, the Bay of Silence and the Bay of Fables (named for Hans Christian Andersen who lived here for a time). Amble around the winding streets, stop for an ice cream or unwind on the wide public beach. (Overnight in Sestri Levante) B

Take a day trip to the nearby town of Portofino by ferry. Enjoy a scenic cruise across the Gulf of Tigullio to San Fruttuoso. You’ll explore for an hour in Fruttuoso then head to Portofino. This historic fishing village is a picturesque place to spend the day and can be reached by train or by boat during the summer. Lunch at one of the harborside restaurants or wander along the village's tiny streets to discover hidden gems including art galleries. (Overnight in Sestri Levante) B

Take Trenitalia to Turin, famous for its beautiful baroque architecture and delicious cuisine. Explore on your own today. We recommend strolling Turin’s boulevards and squares such as Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo. (Overnight in Turin) B

The Museo Egizio is a great institution to peruse an incredible collection of Egyptian treasures and Castello di Rivoli will introduce you to more contemporary pieces. Visit the culture rich islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. Murano is perfect for lovers of art, history, fine craftsmanship, and beautiful views. You’ll also see the famous glassblowers here.
