This morning we will fly from Brisbane into Cunnamulla, (via Toowoomba & St George). Enjoy a big outback welcome by our expert local guide before check-in at the Club Boutique Hotel. Club Boutique will be our home for the duration of the tour so make yourself at home and settle in before our experience in the outback begins. The afternoon offers unparalleled access to the mineral rich waters of the Great Artesian Basin with the perfect backdrop of beautiful gum trees and the coffee-coloured waters of the Warrego River. Let our worries and stress wash away, as we bathe in the Cunnamulla Hot Springs seven geothermal pools as well as the relaxation room, steam room and sauna. What a way to end the day, before our evening dinner.

Our morning begins with breakfast before our journey through the fascinating history of education in the region, learn about the significant roles played by Catholic priests, the Sisters of Mercy, and the Bush Brothers in shaping the educational landscape. Delve into the extraordinary life of Australia’s first self-made millionaire, James Tyson, learn about his significant contributions to the Queensland government and his status as the owner of the largest pastoral holding in Australia during his time. Learn about fascinating life and work of Mr. Alan Tannock, a revered local Stock and Station Agent who dedicated over 45 years to studying the Warrego River System. This tour highlights Tannock’s contributions to flood mitigation and his impact on the town and district. Embark on a captivating journey through the world of contemporary and environmental art, featuring international large-scale artist Gedo van Helton, Aboriginal artist Andrew Nelson, Australian environmental painter Michael Nicholas, and renowned sculptors Archie Sinclair and Rhys Teelow, along with the innovative works of Peta Warner. Late afternoon we nestle into our reclining lounge in the purpose-built theatre at Cunnamulla Railway Station. Be ready to be blown away with the vibrant history and culture of Cunnamulla with the spectacular “Cunnamulla All Aboard” light and sound show. Following this unforgettable experience, we enjoy our dinner.

Day 3. Fri 11 Apr: Heritage town of Eulo

After a leisurely breakfast we travel west to discover the rich history of Cobb & Co in the region with an immersive journey along the route between Cunnamulla and Eulo. Delve into the stories of mishaps while crossing the Warrego and Paroo Rivers, rollovers, and other intriguing historical events. Its driver’s commanded great respect from the public, both for their colourful and entertaining personalities and also for their extraordinary skill with horses. Step back in time to 1880 and explore the vibrant history of Eulo, guided by the stories of legendary figure Isabel Robinson, also known as the Eulo Queen. Hear the stories of opal mining in the district and visit the Eulo Queen Hotel the one remaining of three historical hotels that were central to the town’s social and economic life. A highlight of our day will be to experience the unique and rejuvenating Artesian Mud Baths in Eulo, a hidden gem of natural relaxation and therapeutic benefits. Discover the history and significance of the artesian basin and how these fine clays can rejuvenate our body and skin. On our way back, gain insights into gidyea and mulga, two distinct types of vegetation that thrive in the local environment. Understand their ecological roles and how they contribute to the landscape’s character.
Discover why the Paroo Shire stands out with a disproportionately high percentage of carbon farming compared to the rest of Queensland. Learn about the implications of carbon farming on both local ecosystems and broader environmental practices. This segment of the tour offers a deeper understanding of how regional factors influence carbon management and environmental sustainability. Another glorious day in the outback and today will provide the last opportunity to explore the great shopping and unique souvenirs the town of Cunnamulla has to offer. Get in early as all the shops close at midday and do not reopen until Monday. Some may choose to take advantage of this time to return to the Cunnamulla Hot Springs to once again experience the ambience, relaxation and the health benefits. Mid afternoon prepare to be delighted as we embark on an exclusive culinary adventure with a Progressive Dinner tour in Cunnamulla, where each course is served at an iconic location, blending quality local produce with the beauty of nature while paired with the perfect beverage. The journey culminates with a memorable “Club Boutique Plate in the Paddock” experience under the stars, what a way to end our final night in the Outback.

All good things must come to an end and with heartfelt gratitude for taking us on an unforgettable experience through the outback. Today’s breakfast is a Brunch at Mum & Dad’s, meet the family and join us in our weekly Sunday breakfast, where we all come together, chat and enjoy each others company. There is no better place to get up close and personal with the true soul of people in the outback. We then depart Club Boutique Hotel for Cunnamulla Airport to check-in for our flight home and bid our new Outback friends a fond farewell.
