Journey from the food capital of the world to the cradle of civilization on this 23-night Spice Route voyage with Azamara. The adventures begin in the garden city and foodie paradise of Singapore, followed by three days at sea—ensuring plenty of time to immerse yourself in all the entertaining amenities aboard your boutique hotel at sea.
The first port of call is Hambantota, Sri Lanka, one of the top biodiversity destinations in the world. Visit sprawling national parks, go on a tropical safari, or head to the cosmopolitan Galle and its 18th century fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, it’s a late-night stay in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka that’s home to eclectic shops, white sandy beaches, and tea plantations. From here, you can also take a seaplane flight to discover Kandy and the Temple of the Tooth Relic—one of the most sacred places of worship for Buddhists. There’s also the opportunity to enjoy an Overnight Experience to the Taj Mahal.
Spend a leisurely day at sea before waking up in Cochin, India. This former center of the Indian spice trade and “Queen of the Arabian Sea” is known for old-world charm, beautiful monuments and temples, and Ayurvedic restorative treatments. The rest and relaxation continues with a luxurious seven days at sea, where unforgettable dining experiences, live performances, pampering at the spa, and poolside parties await.
Enjoy an overnight stay in Safaga, Egypt, the gateway to the marvels of Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, as well as renowned diving in the Red Sea. Then, during a late-night stay in Aqaba, Jordan, explore the Wadi Rum Desert and the ancient city of Petra, truly one of the most awe-inspiring wonders of the world. Experience a modern-day marvel of engineering as you cruise the 100-mile Suez Canal, before arriving in one of the most sacred places on Earth: Jerusalem. A late-night stay here means you’ll have time to explore such revered sites as the Western Wall and visit Bethlehem or the Dead Sea.
Then, it’s another relaxing day at sea, as we journey to Heraklion on the isle of Crete. Dig into the many treasures of the Archaeological Museum, be divinely inspired by cathedrals and basilicas, browse trendy shops on Daidalou Street, and visit one of the region’s most popular attractions: Knossos, the center of Minoan civilization.
Your Spice Route voyage with Azamara ends in Athens. Extend your stay here to dine at the best of Greek tavernas and explore such famed landmarks as the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Arch of Hadrian, and the Acropolis.
